The Lora Wellington Scholarship is the first of its kind scholarship fund at Mary Queen of Peace that provides tuition financial assistance to students, preschool through eighth grade. Lora Wellington started her career as a preschool educator, and it seems only fitting to include the school’s littlest learners as beneficiaries of the fund. Lora’s generous legacy lives on through the countless families who will benefit from this scholarship fund.
The “Flock the Block” fundraiser organized by the MQP Girl Scouts & Boy Scouts will serve as an annual gift to the fund. Donate $100 to “flock” a friend’s yard or your own with bright pink yard flamingos. We will begin collecting donations for yard flocking at the Spring Fling parents night (Friday, April 25th, 2025). This will be considered “early access” and families may also donate to flock the church and school front lawn.
This fundraiser will take place May 11-18, starting Mother’s Day Sunday and occurring over what would have been Lora’s 40th birthday. These colorful yard displays not only remind us of the brightness Lora brought to so many lives, but signifies how our MQP “flock” will always support one another.
