Santa's Workshop - Dec. 9

Posted on November 28, 2022 in: General News

On Friday, Dec.9th, MQP School children will again have the chance to get their Christmas shopping done early at Santa's Workshop!

This fundraiser for our MQP Stewardship program offers the opportunity for school children to purchase Christmas gifts for each of their household family members, and bring them home wrapped and ready to place under the tree.  Each class will have designated "store hours" during which they may purchase gifts ranging in price from $0.50 to $2.00.  Gift wrap included!

We need your help in several ways...

1) Donations of new or gently used items which will then be sold at the "store".  Start cleaning out those closets, drawers and the "re-gift" bin now!  (and please ask family members to do the same).  Store Departments include...

- Housewares - kitchen items, stationery, small vases, picture frames, cookbooks,   holiday decor, hand towels, candles, etc.

- Sports - collectable cards, sports give-aways, sporting gear, local, high school and college team logo accessories

- Toys - stuffed animals, games, balls, etc.

- Accessories - ties, jewelry, purses, scarves, hats, etc.

- Baby - bibs, socks, blankets, stuffed toys

- Books - childrens', hobby related, cookbooks, sports, etc.

2) Donations of new or used Christmas gift bags, adhesive gift tags, and tissue for the wrapping stations.

3) Send your children with spending money in an envelope marked with the names of family members for whom they are shopping on Friday, Dec. 9th.  Kids could be encouraged to earn Christmas spending money with special chores around the house!  Consider budgeting $1-2 per family member for whom your children will be shopping.  Due to limited inventory, children will NOT be allowed to shop for themselves, or non-household family and friends.

4) Volunteers Needed!!!  Watch for a SignUp Genius for shifts collecting and sorting merchandise the week of Dec. 5-9, and working the event from 7 am to noon on Friday, Dec. 9.  Older children will be assisting younger grades with gift selections, but parents' help will be critical at the registers and gift wrap areas.

Again, all proceeds benefit the charities of our MQP Stewardship Program, so feel free to mark your child's envelope as "no change needed" and we will donate unspent money on your behalf.  All unsold items will be donated to one of the Society of St. Vincent De Paul thrift stores following the event.
